Divas take Center Stage as The Anchorage Symphony Orchestra Presents a “Wicked” Evening of Broadway Hits and Popular Favorites


Anchorage, Alaska – January 14, 2013 – On February 9th, the Anchorage Symphony is proud to present Wicked Divas, a fantastic concert of diva showstoppers from Broadway, Hollywood and popular music featuring stars from the smash Broadway hit Wicked

  ASO Music Director, Randall Craig Fleischer enthuses, “Wicked Divas is a wonderful pops program featuring two stars from Broadway who actually played one of the two big roles in the show – either Elphaba or Glinda. Their talents reach way beyond this one show and the evening will include all kinds of major Broadway hits.”

  Julia Murney last appeared on Broadway as Elphaba in Wicked after playing the role on the national tour. Julia has also starred on the New York stage in Lennon, The Vagina Monologues, Saved, Crimes of the Heart and many others. Her TV credits include 30 Rock, Sex and the City, Ed, NYPD Blue, all three Law & Orders and more voiceovers than you can count!

  Fellow “witch”, Emily Rozek, recently appeared on Broadway as Glinda in Wicked. She has also starred in, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Annie Get Your Gun, Pacific 1860, Sunset Boulevard, and South Pacific among others.

  This beguiling and bedazzling evening includes selections from Wicked, Gypsy, Ragtime, Titanic, Carmen, Phantom of the Opera, Spamalot and many others! Musical mischief, stunning showstoppers and even bigger voices, Wicked Divas will weave a magic spell the audience won’t want to break!

Wicked Divas - Saturday, February 9, (8pm) in the Atwood Concert Hall, Alaska Center for the Performing Arts.
