Career Exploration Event for Youth with Disabilities Set for Feb. 2 in Anchorage
JUNEAU, Alaska—The Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development’s Employment Security Division has again partnered with other state and nonprofit agencies to help match students with disabilities with local employers.
The day-long Career Exploration Event will be Thursday, Feb. 2. Students and employers will meet at the Anchorage Job Center Midtown-Room 104 (3301 Eagle Street) at 9 a.m.
“Students with disabilities are often sidelined from job searches,” Labor Commissioner Click Bishop said. “This event provides an opportunity for the students to connect with employers and allows employers an opportunity to tap into the talents of this group of potential employees.”
Career Exploration Event sponsors include Anchorage United for Youth, Anchorage Youth Development Coalition, Governor’s Council on Disabilities and Special Education, Statewide Independent Living Council of Alaska, University of Alaska Anchorage-Center for Human Development, Boys and Girls Club of Alaska and Alaska Job Corps.
