CIRI names Stig Colberg chief financial officer
Cook Inlet Region Inc. (CIRI) named Stig Colberg its chief financial officer on Dec. 19, 2011. Colberg joined CIRI in 2008 and was the Company's chief business development officer. He now heads CIRI's Finance and Accounting Department and Business Development Department. He is responsible for CIRI's financial management, its accounting and internal control systems, and the company's budget and financial reporting matters. He also leads efforts to make new investments, conducts and leads due diligence for new acquisitions and is in charge of the company's tax planning and compliance programs.
Colberg joined CIRI in 2008 as vice president of business development, moving up to chief business development officer before his current position. Prior to joining CIRI, Colberg was a partner at the Silicon Valley law firm of Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin & Hachigian LLP, where he focused on the organization of investment partnerships and structuring private investments and merger and acquisition transactions. Before practicing law, Colberg worked as a management consultant in San Francisco and Shanghai, advising multinational corporations on their investments, operations and market strategies in the greater China region.
Colberg earned a juris doctor with distinction from Stanford Law School and graduated summa cum laude from Dartmouth College with a bachelor's in Asian studies.
"CIRI's CFOs typically oversee tax matters, finance duties, business development and accounting for the Company," said Margie Brown, CIRI president and CEO. "Stig was already handling two of these functions, so it made sense for him to assume the additional duties. And with a strong controller in Rhonda Oliver, the transition will be a smooth one."
