Anchors Aweigh Boat Show begins at the Dena’ina Center Thursday Feb. 9-12
Anchorage, Alaska, January 30, 2012 – Alaska’s largest boating and marine show begins on Thursday February 9th at the Dena’ina Center in Anchorage.
“This will be the 28th year for the show, which has become a tradition for outdoor enthusiasts, boaters, fishermen and people that love the water,” noted Tom Anderson, Executive Director of the Alaskan Marine Dealers Association.
“We’ve had as many as 7,000 people attend the show, and this year, with 33 vendors and an abundance of products and equipment displayed, services marketed, and a family-friendly atmosphere, it will be another well-attended event,” added Anderson.
Admission for the show is $8 per person. Tickets are available at the Dena’ina Center Box Office. The Alaskan Marine Dealers Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to safe boating in Alaska’s coastal and inland (river/lake) waters, and advocating for responsible boat use in the state.
“The free daily seminars, in particular, will generate interest and heavy participation because we offer education on everything from salt and fresh water boating to sailing, inflatable repair, jet coat repair and cedar strip canoe building,” said Anderson. “The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary seminar will also be of great value.”
The “Anchors Aweigh” Boat Show is sponsored by AlaskaUSA Federal Credit Union and Sportsman’s Warehouse. Free parking and shuttle service is available at Anchorage Athletic Club at 9th and Gambel. Show hours are Thursday through Saturday 10 AM to 8 PM and Sunday 10 AM to 5 PM.
