Anchorage School District to review attendance boundaries for three JBER schools
Parents and community welcome to attend task force meetings
A district task force will review new attendance boundary scenarios for Mount Spurr, Ursa Major and Ursa Minor elementary schools. The task force has been created to review how balanced enrollment at select Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson schools will be affected by new housing construction in the Moose Crossing community. The task force will meet at 5:30 p.m. in each affected school’s library on the following dates.
Thursday, Jan. 19 at Ursa Major Elementary School, 454 Dyea Ave., JBER
Thursday, Jan. 26 at Mount Spurr Elementary School, 8414 McGuire Ave., JBER
Thursday, Feb. 2 at Ursa Minor Elementary School, 336 Hoonah Ave., JBER
The task force is comprised of district representatives, affected school principals, Demographics and Elementary Education departments. The group will discuss educational programs, current boundaries, walking and busing routes, area population patterns, actual enrollment, and enrollment and housing projections.
In addition to the task force meetings, public comment will also be accepted by the Elementary Education department at 742-4242.
