ASD Afternoon bus routes from Anchorage to Girdwood are canceled

Anchroage School District announced that afternoon bus routes from Anchorage to Girdwood are canceled today.

 Affected routes are:

 610  Goldenview Middle School and Ocean View Elementary School

 621  South High School

 622  Girdwood

 Girdwood activity bus


Please note a portion of the Seward Highway is currently closed to all traffic due to  hazardous road conditions. Here is an excerpt from the state Department of  Transportation:

"A winter snow storm and two early  morning avalanches have combined to create extremely dangerous driving  conditions, prompting the State of Alaska Department of Transportation and  Public Facilities to close the Seward Highway between Potter Marsh and Girdwood.  This  closure is effective from 9:00am and will extend until further notice."

Road condition updates are available by dialing 511 or logging on to http://511.alaska.gov. All staff should be familiar with emergency closure procedures and develop contingency plans as  necessary.

Also, Goldenview Middle School has canceled its after-school activities today.
