kpb architects Announces New Leadership for 2011
Starts 30th Year with $67 Million in New Business
kpb architects takes pleasure in announcing that 2011 will mark their 30th year in business, and the firm’s new leadership configuration for 2011. Originally established by Mark Pfeffer in 1981, adding partners Jeff Koonce and Steve Bettis in 1982 and 1988, respectively, the firm operated as Koonce, Pfeffer, Bettis, Inc. until 2007, when they expanded ownership with key employees and were renamed kpb architects.
As of January 1st, 2011, the established leadership of the firm is comprised of original founders, Jeff Koonce and Steve Bettis, and in equal partnership, Ken Burkhart, Tamás Deák, Michael A. Prozeralik, Richard Reed, and Deanna Wlad Mark Pfeffer continues to serve as Board Member Emeritus to the firm, and will now devote himself full-time to his role as President of Pfeffer Development, LLC. Pfeffer Development will continue to team with kpb architects, using their combined expertise for projects into the future.
A full-service architectural, site planning/ landscape and interior design firm, kpb architects begins the year with the $21 million Loussac Manor Housing project and the $46 million Alakanuk Replacement School in design.

kpb architects is an award-winning mid-size architectural, planning, landscape and interior design firm, headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska with a satellite office in Everett, Washington. Pfeffer Development, LLC, a commercial real estate development company, was launched in 2008 by Mark Pfeffer to focus on property and real estate development projects. Pfeffer Development and its predecessor companies have played a leadership role in the expansion of much of Downtown Anchorage including the Historic City Hall, Anchorage City Hall redevelopments, the Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center, Linny Pacillo Parking Garage, and the F Street renovation. Pfeffer Development also led the development of the Rental Car Center at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, corporate headquarters buildings throughout Anchorage, and numerous multi-family housing projects statewide.
