Commonwealth North Executive Director Message - Annual Meeting Jan. 12
I wish you a Happy New Year!
I am excited for the great beginning we've had this year. Already, we've had an outstanding presentation to our Oil Investment Tax Structure board of directors study group and our Annual Assets Review Forum, a program unique in Alaska, will be held next Wednesday. Through our action, we continue to renew our commitment to objectively study issues so we can adopt enlightened policies that enhance Alaskans' quality of life and that improve the State's ability to effectively manage its resources. It's a pleasure to share this vision with you.
Commonwealth North will offer its Annual Meeting and Asset Review program this Wednesday, January 12. The Asset Review program is designed to provide members and Alaskans with the information we need to judge the performance of Alaska's assets. Every year we seek to provide you with an opportunity to hear directly from those responsible for the management of those resources.
We have an excellent lineup of speakers this year: Mike Burns - Executive Director, Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation; Joe Dubler - Chief Financial Officer, Alaska Housing Finance Corporation; Pat Gamble - President of the University of Alaska; Jim Hemsath - Deputy Director of Development Finance, Alaska Industrial Development & Export Authority; Daniel Sullivan - Commissioner, Alaska Department of Natural Resources; and Mead Treadwell -Lieutenant Governor, State of Alaska.
I'm pleased to notify you we have added a speaker to this program, Lt. Governor Mead Treadwell. He has had a strong interest in this program series since its inception and we appreciate his historical knowledge and the perspective his position will bring us.
I look forward to an exciting year of activity. Sign up for the Annual Meeting and Assets Review below.
Commonwealth North Annual Alaska Assets Review
Wednesday, January 12th 12-1:30pm
FORUM: Members Free, Guest $30
Commonwealth North's Annual Alaska Assets Review program will be held Wednesday, January 12th from 12-1:30 at the Dena'ina Center. As shareholders in "Alaska Inc." the citizens of Alaska need to be informed about how the assets of their company are performing. What do we have? How are the assets being managed? Are the assets performing as well as they could be? Do changes need to be made?
Commonwealth North will hold an annual review to report on value, income, and prospects of Alaska's key assets. A panel of the State's major asset managers have been asked to identify what criteria they should be judged upon and to identify emerging public policy issues related to the assets under their responsibility. We will be joined by Mike Burns - Executive Director, Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation; Joe Dubler - Chief Financial Officer, Alaska Housing Finance Corporation; Pat Gamble - President of the University of Alaska; Jim Hemsath - Deputy Director of Development Finance, Alaska Industrial Development & Export Authority; Daniel Sullivan - Commissioner, Alaska Department of Natural Resources; and Mead Treadwell -Lieutenant Governor, State of Alaska who have all also agreed to participate.
Ultimately, the program will serve to track performance of assets - and asset managers - against other metrics and an opportunity for you to review and evaluate the annual progress of our common wealth. This will also be the Commonwealth North's Annual membership meeting and will include the distribution of the annual report and the announcement of election results.
