BBB Release: Alaska's Top BBB Complaints And Inquiries Of 2010


Industries that Kept BBB Busy

Anchorage, Alaska – Jan. 13, 2011 2010 was a busy year. Better Business Bureau serving Alaska, Oregon and Western Washington:

· Provided over 2.9 million BBB Reliability Reports on companies in BBB's local service area in 2010; a 53 percent increase from 2009.

· Closed 35,967 complaints in BBB's local service area in 2010.

· Receives over 8,500 requests for information each day.

So which Alaska industries topped BBB's complaints and inquiries in 2010?

Top Complaints

1. Auto Dealers – New Cars*

5. Restaurants

Changes between 2009 and 2010:

While most industries shuffled among the top spots, a few new industries have joined the top five: "Restaurants" jumped to fifth place on the complaint list after being tied for 14th in 2009. "Tours – Operators & Promoters" broke into the top five inquiries, moving from sixth place in 2009, to fourth place in 2010.
