Anchorage, AK – On Thursday, January 27, 2011 – ASD Superintendent Carol Comeau will be presented with the 2011 Junior Achievement of Alaska Educator of the Year Award at the Alaska Business Hall of Fame in a ceremony to be held at the Dena’ina Civic & Convention Center. Junior Achievement of Alaska, Inc. and Alaska Business Monthly are the Title sponsors of this event.
Ms. Comeau has been a strong supporter of Junior Achievement and its mission to give Alaska’s youth workforce readiness skills, encourage entrepreneurship and strengthen financial literacy. Carol has always encouraged one of her staff to serve on the Statewide Board of Junior Achievement to create a bridge between the business community and the classroom.
In a 2008 letter, Carol wrote “I truly believe in JA’s K-12 programs and the lifelong benefits they offer Alaska’s youth. JA provides a unique opportunity to enhance schools’ social studies curricula with an economics focus often lacking until students are in their high school careers. I support Junior Achievement programs and the opportunities they provide our students, and I appreciate the generosity of Alaska’s business community which helps fund these programs.”
Junior Achievement of Alaska is very proud to recognize Carol Comeau as the JA Educator of the Year at the 25th Annual Hall of Fame on January 27, 2011.
