AEDC mourns the loss of past President and longtime public servant, Larry Crawford
Mr. Larry Crawford, who served as president of the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation from 1999 to 2004, died Dec. 31, 2010 at home after a long and courageous battle with kidney cancer.
Larry was a respected and tireless advocate who spent decades serving Anchorage and Alaska in the private and public sector, most recently as Chief of Staff to Mayor Dan Sullivan.
During his long tenure with the Municipality, Larry was the man behind the scenes, orchestrating major successful civic projects including unification of the City and Borough, and Project 80s; he was also a key contributor to the success of Civic and Convention Center Yes campaign. Larry was the ultimate public servant, epitomizing the ethical and moral standards that the citizens of Anchorage expect.
During his tenure as AEDC President, Larry led with great professionalism and focus that garnered the respect and support of the Anchorage business community. AEDC is honored to have benefited from Larry's leadership. The AEDC Board of Directors and staff extends it deepest sympathies to his family and friends.
A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E St. A celebration of Larry's life will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary's Episcopal Church at the corner of Tudor Road and Lake Otis Parkway.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
