Weckesser Named Principal at Weller Elementary in FairbanksLynn Weckesser has been named the principal of Weller Elementary School. She has
served as the interim principal since the start of the 2009-2010 school year.
"I am very pleased to be given this opportunity to continue on here at Weller. It's a
really nice vote of confidence from the families and students and staff," Weckesser
said. "I'm looking forward to continuing to build those relationships and to help
students reach their potential."
Ms. Weckesser has a strong foundation in educational leadership and has had a wide
range of experiences that will benefit the students and families in the Weller
She has served in education for twenty-seven years. During that time, she worked as
an elementary teacher, statewide mentor for new teachers, assistant principal and
She received her bachelor's degree in special education from State University of New
York and her master's degree in special education from Nazareth College of
Rochester. She has a principal endorsement from the University of Alaska Fairbanks,
and a superintendent endorsement from the University of Alaska Southeast.
"Lynn was the obvious choice to lead Weller," Superintendent Dr. Nancy Wagner said.
"She has been outstanding as the interim principal, and I know she will continue to do
great things there."
