U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke, Sen. Mark Begich to Meet with Alaska Business, 2010 Census LeadersLocke to Talk Trade Expansion and Rural Development
WASHINGTON - U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke will join U.S. Sen. Mark Begich (D-AK) in Anchorage Friday for a series of meetings to discuss trade expansion, rural development and the 2010 Census. Locke and Begich will host a roundtable discussion with Alaska business leaders on potential trade expansion between Alaska and Pacific Rim countries, and they will discuss rural development with the Denali Commission. The pair will also tour the Anchorage census office to meet with statewide Complete Count Committee members in advance of this year's Decennial Census.
The Complete Count Committee consists of community, business and government leaders dedicated to building awareness of the 2010 Census. One of thousands of committees throughout the country, the Alaska CCC plays a crucial role in planning and executing local efforts tailored to Alaska's population to ensure a complete count for the 2010 Census.
