Senator Hoffman Praises Governor’s Commitment to Rural School Construction
(JUNEAU) – Senator Lyman Hoffman (D-Bethel), co-chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, today expressed his support for the announcement by Governor Sean Parnell in his first State-of-the-State address yesterday. Senator Hoffman released this statement:
“I am very happy and encouraged to hear Governor Parnell recognize the critical need for new school construction in the bush. The Governor’s positive action signals a very important recognition on the part of the Administration that steps need to be taken to address the great lack of adequate school facilities in many parts of the state.
“Governor Parnell is the first Governor to squarely address this issue and I applaud him for it. I look forward to working with the Governor on this critical issue. By working together to provide adequate school buildings, we can improve educational opportunities for many Alaskan children.”
