PASSENGER SERVICE EXPANDS AT ALASKA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORTS SYSTEM

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Jan. 20, 2010

(ANCHORAGE, Alaska)— The Alaska International Airports System (AIAS) will see both expanded and new service into Anchorage and Fairbanks by United Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, Continental Airlines, American Airlines, Air Canada, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines and US Airways.

Fairbanks will see direct flights to Denver and Salt Lake City starting this spring. Anchorage will see expanded service direct to Philadelphia, Chicago, Denver, San Francisco, Portland and Houston

“This is welcomed news as our team has worked hard the past 6 to 8 months in an extremely challenging environment to keep rates and fees competitive at our international airports –It’s key to long-term success while allowing the travelling public a greater variety of flight options,” said Christine Klein, Department of Transportation and Public Facilities Deputy Commissioner, Airports & Aviation.
