New Career Training Program at ACB Solutions

ACB Solutions now has a Computer Installation & Repair Technician career training program through its computer training center.

This program prepares students for a career as a computer or IT technician. It is between six and nine months in length and provides a mix of classroom, online, and on-the-job training, as well as technical certifications.

As a technology services provider, it made sense to ACB Solutions to offer a program in this field.

“Because we have an IT services department and an in-house computer repair shop, we felt that we were in a unique position to be able to provide students not only classroom training but the opportunity to get out there and gain practical experience in a real-life situation,” said Rob Axtell, Training Center Manager for ACB Solutions.

This led to a comprehensive computer technician training program that provides students the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience through ACB Solutions’ IT services department. After the first 8 weeks, students begin this phase of the training. They start by shadowing the shop technicians in the computer repair shop at ACB Solutions and, as they gain experience and knowledge, work their way up to the internship phase of the program where they will go out on computer and network service calls. The IT services team at ACB Solutions will also provide mentorship and guidance to students throughout the duration of the program.

“Having students work with our staff and our clients will build practical knowledge that will give students an advantage when looking for a job and once they are employed,” said Russell Ball, owner of ACB Solutions.

This program qualifies as a State of Alaska Re-training Program and for the Worker’s Compensation Re-training Program.
