Board of Game to Meet in Anchorage, January 29 - February 1, 2010The Alaska Board of Game will meet January 29-February 1, 2010 in Anchorage at the Egan Convention Center to consider over 50 proposals concerning regulatory changes to statewide provisions for hunting and the use of game.
Proposals have been submitted by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, local fish and game advisory committees, and the general public seeking adjustments to statewide provisions for hunting and trapping regulations. Proposal topics include sealing and salvage requirements; taking big game for certain religious and cultural ceremonies; possession of exotic and other animals; Game Management Unit boundaries; intensive management, and other topics.
The board will take oral public testimony beginning Friday, January 29. Anyone wishing to testify before the board must sign up at the meeting site by Saturday, January 30, at 10:00 am. Public testimony will continue until everyone who has signed up has been given the opportunity to be heard.
Deliberations on the proposals will begin following public testimony and continue through the remainder of the meeting. The proposals, along with the meeting notice, agenda, and the "roadmap" can be viewed online at www.boards.adfg.state.ak.us.
Written comments on specific proposals will be accepted and distributed to members during the meeting. Written comments can be submitted at the meeting, or faxed to (907) 465-6094.
