1/15/2010 5:11:28 PM

SEATTLE - Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air have established a program for Mileage Plan members to donate frequent flier miles to charitable groups involved in the relief effort in Haiti. Up to 5 million miles donated to the airlines' Charity Miles program between now and Feb. 15 will be matched one-for-one by the Seattle-based airlines.

To make a donation, Mileage Plan members should visit the airlines' Web site www.alaskaair.com and click the link on the lower right corner of the home page.

Donated miles will be made available to aid organizations working to relieve the suffering of people in Haiti following this week's devastating earthquake.

"Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air extend our deepest sympathy to our Haitian neighbors and we are offering our support for this worldwide relief effort in every way we can," said Bill Ayer, chairman and CEO of Alaska Air Group.

Earlier this week, Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air donated $50,000 to the American Red Cross and 2 million frequent flier miles to Angel Flight West to aid Haitian relief efforts.
