HELP WANTED: Associate Editor
Location: Anchorage, AK
We have an outstanding career opportunity for an Associate Editor at Alaska Business Publishing Co., Inc. The Associate Editor serves a crucial role in editing, creating, and gathering content for all extensions of the brand, print and digital.
The Associate Editor will research, write, compile, and edit feature articles, departments, columns, special sections, headlines, and web content. Fact check and otherwise ensure accuracy and timeliness of content. Copy edits, conforms to style, and proofreads all materials to be published. Ensures that content is error free and appropriate prior to final printing. Must be able to properly caption photos and obtain credits and permissions. Posts content to the website using the magazine’s content management system. Must have the ability to manage diverse workloads, multiple ongoing tasks and projects, and respect deadlines. The Associate Editor works closely with the Managing Editor.
Candidates should have impeccable writing and editing skills, experience working with marketing and public relations professionals, experience interviewing sources for stories, experience with content management systems and digital publishing, and a keen understanding of stories that fit the Alaska Business Publishing Co., Inc. brand. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, email, and business telephone etiquette.
• At least 5 years of full-time experience with a print publication.
• Degree in journalism, business, English, or an adjacent field.
• Excellent team-building skills.
