The North America Outdoor Institute would like to keep you informed of upcoming workshops, seminars and community events with direct links to register online. Iron Dog Safety Expo -Menard Sports Center 10AM-3PM
Join NAOI for a Be Snow Smart presentation at the Iron Dog Safety Expo and get your Donlin Gold Fly Racing Helmet for only $60!  Two 90 minute programs are scheduled for 11am and 1pm.

Big Lake Winter Fest Safety Challenge
at South Shore Wayside on Big Lake
Join NAOI for winter survival demonstrations, scenarios and prizes! 
Play the game that helps you be prepared for all your winter adventures. Find out if you have what it takes to survive and win prizes. $10 per person-Play all stations and enter to win a helmet donated by Eagle River Polaris.

Hilltop Ski Area Avalanche Field Training 
11AM-4PM
Avalanche Field Training for those that love to recreate in the snow. Topics include: identifying and assessing avalanche terrain, trip planning and route selection, introduction to use of avalanche transceivers, shovels, and probes, emergency response. Made possible thanks to the Alaska Dept. of Public Safety. $20 donation recommended. Register Here

Snowmobile Safety Training 
11-4PM at Meadow Lakes Senior Complex
Join NAOI for a community snowmobile safety training perfect for novices, families and kids who ride in Alaska. What a great way to begin Spring Break!

Course covers:

  •  Pre-Ride Preparations
  •  General snowmobile safety & Maintenance
  •  Terrain Management
  •  Avalanche Awareness
  •  Emergency response procedures
  •  Wilderness Medical
  •  And Much More!

2013 Snow Rondy
Chena River Lakes Recreation Area, N. Pole
NAOI will be on hand at this year's big Snow Rondy to host safety seminars on a variety of snow related topics...everything from avalanches to snowmachine safety to cold weather injury prevention.  Attend our Be Snow Smart  presentation and join us in the field to test your avalanche search skills.  We'd love to see ya' there!

Wilderness First Responder 
April 22 - May 3, 2013
This 10 day nationally certified training program is geared towards professionals that guide in remote areas and for those that participate in extended backcountry travel or just want to learn wilderness medicine. This program is certified by SOLO, the oldest, continuous wilderness medical school in the world.  Register Now
Wilderness First Aid/WFR Recert
May 10 - 12, 2013  
Many backcountry emergencies are preventable and even when bad things happen, sometimes the wrong care can make things worse. Learn Wilderness First Aid Skills and get CPR certified! This is also a WFR recertification course. Register Now
