Murkowski To Testify at U.S. House of Representatives Energy Hearing
Senator to Focus on Efficiency as Nation Moves Towards Energy Independence
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Lisa Murkowski will testify tomorrow morning before the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Energy and Power. The hearing, titled "American Energy Security and Innovation: An Assessment of Private-Sector Successes and Opportunities in Energy Efficient Technologies” will focus on energy efficiency as related to American energy security and innovation.
Senator Murkowski’s testimony will focus on the federal government’s potential role in advancing efficiency, including the policies and recommendations included in her recently-released Energy 20/20 blueprint. Murkowski has long been an advocate for better energy security, reduced costs, and better energy efficiency for the nation and for Alaska. The House hearing comes as some Rural Alaskan families are spending as much as 47 percent of their income on their energy bills.
