KEYNOTE SPEAKER: JIM DAVIDSON
JIM DAVIDSON--is a geologist with oil industry expertise and a professional speaker who also shares his international climbing adventures. In his 24 years as a geologist, Jim has worked for Shell Oil Co. and Amoco, and has consulted to BP, Exxon, ARCO, Mobil, Chevron, Texaco, Getty, and many more oil & gas firms. Jim has also mesmerized audiences across the USA and internationally as a keynote speaker and trainer since 1990. Jim’s amazing tale of resilience is described in a new adventure memoir that Jim co-authored with Pulitzer-finalist journalist, Kevin Vaughan The Ledge: An Adventure Story of Friendship and Resilience on Mount Rainier”, Ballantine Books/Random House, July 26, 2011. Jim’s survival story is now a stunning episode of the popular television show “I Shouldn’t Be Alive.” It portrays Jim Davidson and Mike Price on Mount Rainier when a snowbridge suddenly collapsed and dropped them into a hidden crevasse deep inside the glacier. Sadly, Mike did not survive the fall. Jim had to find a way up the dangerous ice wall… alone. It’s a tale of determination against all odds and a lesson in how to overcome adversity when it seems there’s no way out. During his 29 years of high-altitude climbs, rescues, and dramatic survival situations, Jim has summited the sixth highest peak in the world, climbed and led expeditions to Alaska, Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Ecuador, México & Nepal, and saved himself by climbing out alone from an 80-foot deep glacial crevasse.
