Era Alaska Discontinues Winter Anchorage to Cordova Schedule
ANCHORAGE - Era Alaska’s winter flight schedule between Anchorage and Cordova will be suspended starting Monday, February 18, 2013, and resume again in early May2013.
Era Alaska President Bob Hajdukovich said, "We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause any of our customers. We have a long history serving Cordova and have no intention of pulling out of the market." He continued, "We will make every attempt to re-accommodate all of those affected by this."
Era is working to contact all travelers with existing reservations on its originally scheduled flights to and from Anchorage and Cordova with the intention of rebooking them on Alaska Airlines flights.
"This is not a move we take lightly. When we ran the numbers, it became clear Eracould not afford to continue this service. In the winter, Cordova is just not big enough to support two airlines. As much as we want to make it work, it is not economically viable," said Steve Smith, Era Alaska’s director of sales and marketing.
Era expects to resume a round trip seasonal flight schedule between Anchorage and Cordova beginning in May 2013 and extending into October 2013.
Era Alaska is the largest regional airline based in the state, offering daily passenger and cargo services to nearly 100 communities across Alaska. All flights operated on Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft feature full in-flight cabinservice.
