Representative Kawasaki Supports FCC Decision to Strengthen Consumer Protections Against “Robocalls”
JUNEAU – Representative Scott Kawasaki (D-Fairbanks) today commended the FCC on its decision to strengthen consumer protections from unwanted computer-generated phone calls, or “robocalls.”
“It’s great that the FCC has taken actions to protect American consumers from unwanted phone calls that invade citizens’ privacy. I will continue to work to protect Alaskans at the state level and am happy to have the support from the federal government.”
Rep. Kawasaki is the sponsor of HB 243, which will prohibit the use of automated dialing systems to make robocalls to Alaskans. Twelve states have passed similar legislation.
