Public meetings scheduled on guide concession program

(Anchorage, AK) - The Department of Natural Resources has scheduled a series of public meetings in March regarding the proposed statewide Big Game Guide Concession Program.

Detailed information about the proposed program can be found on the Guide Concession Program (GCP) website at http://www.dnr.alaska.gov/mlw/gcp. If the program is adopted as proposed, big game hunting guides will apply through a competitive process to operate their businesses in designated areas throughout the state. The program does not limit access to state land for any other commercial or private user.

Meeting dates, locations, and times:

·        March 6, 2012       Juneau           Hickel Room, Centennial Hall       6-8:30 p.m.

·        March 14, 2012     Fairbanks        FNSB Noel Wien Library              6-8:30 p.m.

·        March 20, 2012     Anchorage      Central Middle School                  6-8:30 p.m.

 

The public is encouraged to attend the meetings and provide public testimony. Additionally, the Division of Mining, Land & Water will be hosting a number of webcast meetings. Details on the webcasts will be posted to the GCP website.  Written comments must be received prior to 5 p.m. on April 23, 2012 to be considered.
