BLS: Employment and Wages in Alaska – Second Quarter 2011

·         Employment rose 1.5% in Alaska's largest county, Anchorage Borough, from June 2010 to June 2011, above the national increase of 0.9%.

  • Anchorage Borough’s average weekly wage increased 2.2%, compared to the national average of 3.0%.
  • North Slope Borough had the highest weekly wage in the state at $1,726.
  • Wade Hampton Census Area’s average weekly wage of $494 was lowest in the state.

*(Alaska consists of 17 smaller boroughs, 11 census areas, and 1 municipality, which are similar to a county in other states)
