We are partnering with with the Alaska Journal of Commerce and look forward to hearing student interpretations of Article 8, Section 2 of the Alaska Constitution.

The Alaska Support Industry Alliance Scholarship Contest
Eligibility
The Alaska Support Industry Alliance Scholarship Contest is open to Alaska High School students ages 16-18. Applicants will write a reflective essay (800-1000 words) describing their interpretation of Article 8, Section 2 of the Alaska State Constitution:
“The legislature shall provide for the utilization, development, and conservation of all natural resources belonging to the State, including land and waters, for the maximum benefit of its people.”
The Prizes
*1st Place: $1,500.00
*2nd Place: $750.00
*3rd Place: $250.00
1st, 2nd and 3rd Place winners will have their essays published in the Alaska Journal of Commerce, posted on the Alliance website and published in the 30th annual Meet Alaska program in January 2013.

Scoring:
A panel of 3 judges will score based on the following factors:
- Originality
- Reflection – how Article 2 Section 8 relates to something in your life
- Action –how Article 2 Section 8 should be implemented in public policy
- Punctuation/Grammar
- Content
The essays that are submitted become property of the Alaska Support Industry Alliance. Once winners are chosen, a check will be made to the winning applicants and sent to the address that they provided.
