Nominations are open for the Tom Snapp Howard Rock First Amendment AwardThis award is presented to an Alaskan or group of Alaskans who have gone above and beyond in protecting the rights guaranteed in the First Amendment, specifically, freedom of speech and freedom of the press.
The recipient need not be a member of the Alaska Press Club, but will have made a significant, deliberate effort to protect the rights of Alaskans to speak, write and publish freely and/or to ensure fair access to public records and information.

Winners will be selected and ratified by the Alaska Press Club board. The award will not necessarily be presented every year; an award will be presented only in years when the board feels a deserving nominee has been presented.
