Here is the economic alert we sent Alaskan legislators today!
Feb. 18, 2011
Today, we sent the alert message below to Alaska's Representatives and Senators. We thought that the Southcentral Alaskans among our readers might like to join them at next Friday's hearing. Please put this event on your schedule now. While it could be the most important event in your week, it might also be entertaining, as you will see.... Our Canadian and Lower 48 readers will note that while the Sierra Club and their allies have been very active in their areas, too, Alaska has now attracted the attention of several dozen national and international environmental activist groups--along with at least one, "associate field organizer".
Have a great weekend.

Will you stand up for Alaska?
Dear (Name of Legislator):
Over the last two years only a handful of Alaska Legislators have testified at federal hearings which will determine the economic fate of our state.
Next Friday, February 25, the Feds will conduct a hearing to determine Alaskans' interest in OCS lease sales which could well be the throughput salvation for the Trans Alaska Pipeline, our economic lifeline.
Since federal agencies put a lot of stock in testimony from public officials, your testimony could well shape future lease sale policy that could have the effect of supporting or killing Alaska's economy!
WOULDN'T IT BE WONDERFUL IF EVERY MEMBER OF ALASKA'S LEGISLATURE TESTIFIED? WHAT SINGLE ACTION NEXT WEEK COULD EACH OF YOU TAKE THAT COULD HAVE MORE IMPACT ON THE WELLBEING OF CITIZENS AND PROTECTION OF THE OPERATING BUDGET THAT IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ALLOCATE?
In the spirit that each of us should do our part, I've created a special webpage for your use, here. It contains a fact sheet I've edited from a number of sources. It also contains the copy of a letter sent earlier this week by a Sierra Club 'Associate Field Organizer'. This letter is especially concerning for it demonstrates how dedicated international environmental activist organizations are engaged in -- not just honest expression of free speech -- but in using sophisticated techniques to shut down Alaska's economic hope and future.
Will you stand up for Alaska next Friday night? If you do and email me your testimony, I'll be glad to promote your participation to our thousands of readers. Maybe this is an opportunity for all political parties to come together and work as a non-partisan team to save our state's economy.
I hope to see you there.
