Final Week for Public Comment Period on Election Review
February 14, 2011, Anchorage, AK – The public comment period for the election review currently being conducted by the lieutenant governor’s office and the Division of Elections ends this Friday, February 18.
“We’ve been hearing from Alaskans for the past two weeks, and we are looking into all concerns that are raised and all suggestions that are offered,” Lt. Governor Mead Treadwell said. “This past general election was history-making, with the statewide write-in campaign in the U.S. Senate race raising various questions and concerns. Where we go from here will affect elections to come, and we want all Alaskans to have a voice in this process.”
The lieutenant governor’s office and the Division of Elections will be working with the Department of Law to review issues raised by the 2010 election. The review is scheduled to be concluded on March 4, at which point recommendations will be announced.
