Alaska Delegation Announces Grants to Alaska Programs

Washington, D.C. – The Alaska Congressional Delegation is pleased to announce the following grants awarded to communities in the State of Alaska:

Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement:

· $637,800 to the State of Alaska for evaluating the distribution and status of Polar Bears to improve oil & gas mitigation in the Chukchi Sea.

U.S. Department of Agriculture:

  • $483,705 to the Norton Sound Health Corporation to expand access to health care services through USDA’s Distance Learning and Telemedicine Program.
  • $404,517 to the Kuspuk School District to expand access to health care services through USDA’s Distance Learning and Telemedicine Program.
  • $350,232 to the Alaska Gateway School District to expand access to health care services through USDA’s Distance Learning and Telemedicine Program.
  • $492,793 to the North Slope Borough School District to expand access to health care services through USDA’s Distance Learning and Telemedicine Program.

U.S. Department of Health & Human Services:

· $646,161 to the State of Alaska to assist eligible low-income homes meet energy costs through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

· $604,446 to the Alaska eHealth Network to provide support in the field as providers adopt health information technology. Funding is provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

U.S. Army:

· $10,000,000 to MTNT Energy, Inc. of McGrath to provide electrical support services.

U.S. Navy:

· $32,144,232 to Chugach World Services, Inc. of Anchorage for housing improvements at Naval Base Guam and Andersen Air Force Base Guam.
