AK State House Majority PR: Joule, Herron Chosen to Lead House Bush Caucus
Reps. Feige and Dick join; Kotzebue Rep. thankful to be asked to lead
Juneau, Alaska – Representative Reggie Joule, D-Kotzebue, has been chosen once again to lead the House Bush Caucus, his office announced today. Rep. Bob Herron, D-Bethel, will serve as Vice Chair.
“I am thankful for the support of my colleagues. I am glad to do it. I believe we’ve made a difference in rural Alaska in a good way,” Joule said. “We couldn’t have done it without the support of the governor and the legislature. We’re seeing greater dialogue on rural issues, more emphasis on funding programs that can positively impact our regions. Hopefully we can continue to build on those successes and continue to help educate our fellow lawmakers.”
Joule also announced that newly-elected representatives Eric Feige, R-Chickaloon, and Alan Dick, R-Stony River, have joined the caucus, bringing all members with rural areas in their districts into the caucus. The caucus advocates legislation, budget funding increments and programs that service and contribute to life in our state’s rural areas.
“I was surprised and honored to be chosen as Vice-Chair,” Herron said. “I believe that together we will be able to provide information to the rest of the House and the state on how important rural Alaska is to the health – and the wealth – of the state.”
The caucus met for the first time last Friday to organize for the 27th Alaska Legislature.
