The Eye of the Beholder, Wearable Art Fashion Show Debuts March 11
The Eye of the Beholder, Wearable Art Fashion Show, makes its debut on March 11th at the Anchorage Sheraton Hotel. The show consists of 60 amazing works of wearable art from Alaska and around the world. Included in the show are three pieces by the current winner of the International Wearable Art competition in New Zealand. On the runway are also the winners from the recent Ketchikan and Juneau wearable art festivals.
The evening, produced by Art Services North with proceeds benefitting the Alaska Fiber Festival, promises to be “Over The Top”. Chefs are working on edible art creations (decadent dessert emphasis) for the crowd during the cocktail hour 6:30 to 7:30pm. Pieces from a private collection of unique wearable art will be on display in the foyer during cocktails.
“This art is amazing, unusual and certainly not something you see often in Alaska, says Darl Schaaff , show producer. We are bringing international quality art to the show and providing an opportunity for Alaskan artists to show their stuff with the best of them”.
A cash prize is being presented to the people’s choice winner at the event. This runway style show promises to be sensory overload with incredible art surrounded by an evening of music, live entertainment, multiple video screens and more than a few surprises.
For information on the event contact Art Services North at 279-7500. Tickets are priced at $75. Runway seating at tables is $100 and a very select section of VIP tables ($150 per) will receive special wearable art amenities, the best seats and opportunity to see all of the creations up close
Eye of the Beholder is an evening of lush visual excitement.
