Senate Resources Committee Passes Bill to Encourage Cook Inlet Gas Storage
(JUNEAU) - The Senate Resources Committee yesterday passed Senate Bill 203, which provides tax credits to companies who develop gas storage in Cook Inlet.
The sponsor of SB 203, Senator Hollis French, D-Anchorage, said the creation of an emergency storehouse of natural gas took a step forward yesterday when the Resources Committee approved this plan to incentivize natural gas storage for Southcentral Alaska.
"I'm pleased with the work done by the Senate Resources Committee on this important piece of legislation," said Senator French. "The changes made by the committee, with the help of the Department of Revenue, made this bill stronger. In the long run, this bill will help keep Alaskans warm in winter."
The bill moves on to the Senate Finance Committee.
