Governor Orders Flags Lowered for Former Lawmaker

February 11, 2010, Juneau, Alaska – Governor Sean Parnell has ordered state flags to be lowered to half-staff on Friday in honor and memory of former Representative Robert Walker Stratton, Jr. Stratton died at ProvidenceValdezMedicalCenter. He was 94.

Stratton moved to Alaska in 1949 and settled in Anchorage. He served one term representing Spenard in the Second Alaska State House in 1961 and 1962. He later moved to Valdez.

“Representative Stratton will be remembered for his contributions to our state and his legacy of achievements,” Governor Parnell said. “Sandy and I will keep his family and friends in our thoughts and prayers.”

Stratton is survived by his wife, Kathleen, their seven children, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Governor Parnell has ordered state flags to be lowered to half-staff on Friday, February 12. Flags will be raised to full-staff the following morning.
