DOT&PF Offers New Public Communication Tool
(JUNEAU, Alaska) – To bolster its communications with the public, the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) launched a new, subscriber-based, free messaging service today.
DOT&PF is now offering press releases, airport news, ferry information, public transit information and more with advisories via e-mail and text messages through a third party provider, GovDelivery.
“This is a great new option for us to increase our communications with the public…a public that wants to know about its state’s transportation infrastructure, airports, ferries and more,” said Commissioner Leo von Scheben.
The DOT&PF provides subscribers more than 20 specialized e-mail alerts topics. Subscribers can also choose to receive e-mail alerts and text messages to cell phones or other wireless devices (Note: Most wireless carriers allow for text e-mail messages at some additional cost, so subscribers are encouraged to consult their wireless carrier for pricing details).
GovDelivery is used by government organizations worldwide, including the City of Sitka, U.S. Departments of Labor, Transportation, and more.
Visit DOT&PF online at dot.state.ak.us and click the link for Sign up to Receive News, Updates & More by Email, Text Messages link to subscribe. After entering an e-mail address, new subscribers can access a menu of options to choose from.####
