BLS NEWS RELEASE: Anchorage Area Consumer Price Index, Second Half of 2009

BLS issued a press release today on the consumer price index for Anchorage.

Highlights:

· Overall prices increased 1.1 percent from one year prior and up 1.8 percent from six months ago.

· An increase in housing prices influenced the upward trend in the all items index. Housing prices increased 3.4 percent for the year.

· Transportation prices fell 4.2 percent for the year. Gasoline prices, a major component in the Transportation index, fell 14.2 percent for the year.
