February 16, 2010 (Girdwood, Alaska) –The Sitzmark Bar & Grill at Alyeska Resort is proud to present a spring line-up of nationally renowned musical acts. Carving out quite a niche in the music scene, the Sitzmark has become a must-stop live concert venue during the winter in Southcentral Alaska. The “Sitz”, as locals fondly call the venue, is conveniently located at the base of the ski area, next door to the iconic Girdwood diner, The Bake Shop.We are trying to expand the music offering in the Anchorage Area,” says Jay Bell, Alyeska Resort’s Music Manager. “I’m really excited to be presenting a bluegrass legend and an all-female Led Zeppelin cover band this winter.”
Next up at the Sitz is Flowmotion, one of Seattle’s most diverse rock bands, scheduled for two nights February 19 and 20, 2010. The band was founded in 2001 by guitarist and lead vocalist Josh Clauson – the only member of the band’s original lineup. Their sound has evolved into what the Seattle Post-Intellgencer calls “energetic guitar bravado, driving funk bass lines and a tendency to break into improve, keeping the live shows fun and flamboyant.” Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 day of show.
Peter Rowan, scheduled for March 5 and 6, is a Grammy-award winning bluegrass singer-songwriter with a career spanning over five decades. From his early years playing under the tutelage of bluegrass patriarch Bill Monroe, Peter’s stint in Old & In the Way with Jerry Garcia and his subsequent breakout as both a solo performer and bandleader, Rowan has built a devoted, international fan base through his continuous stream of original recordings, collaborative projects, and constant touring. On the road, Rowan performs internationally as a solo singer-songwriter, while stateside he plays in three bands: the Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band, a quartet featuring Jody Stecher, Keith Little, and Paul Knight; The Peter Rowan & Tony Rice Quartet; and his rocking band, The Free Mexican Air Force. Tickets for Peter Rowan are $17 in advance and $20 day of show.
Lez Zeppelin plays the Sitzmark on April 2 and 3, 2010. Since forming in 2004, the New York City-based quartet Lez Zeppelin has toured throughout the United States and Europe to become the first and foremost female rock act to pay homage to Led Zeppelin. Garnering rave reviews across the board, SPIN magazine called Lez Zeppelin “the most powerful all-female band in rock history.” In the studio, the band is equally committed to garnering the spirit and authenticity of their namesake and called on legendary producer/engineer, Eddie Kramer, to produce the group’s debut self-titled album, which was released in July 2007. Lez Zeppelin tickets are $17 in advance or $20 day of show.
