Alaska Delegation Announces Grants to Alaska Programs

Washington, D.C. - The Alaska Congressional Delegation is pleased to announce the following grants awarded to communities in the State of Alaska:

U.S. Department of Defense - Department of the Navy:

  • $23,542,485 from the Naval Facilities Engineering Command to Chugach World Services, Inc, of Anchorage, for housing operations and maintenance and change of occupancy maintenance services in Guam. This is a modification to a previously awarded contract, which now totals $130,657,546.
U.S. Department of Defense - Department of the Army:

  • $20,000,000 to Chenega Global Services, LLC, of Anchorage, to provide environmental, operations and base support services, sustainment restoration and maintenance services, facilities operation and maintenance, investigation and restoration, energy management, on and off site technical support, and services for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Mobile, Alabama.
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services:

  • $828,850 to the State of Alaska to support public health efforts to reduce obesity, increase physical activity, improve nutrition, and decrease smoking. Funding is provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
U.S. Department of Transportation

  • $137,000 to the Matanuska-Susitna Borough for the purchase of a replacement bus and a driving simulator to facilitate driver training.
U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs:

  • $45,250 to Fort Richardson for road maintenance. Funding provided by the National Cemetery Administration and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
  • $300,000 to renovate VA warehouse space in Anchorage. Funding provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
  • $200,000 to renovate space for clinical programs in Anchorage. Funding provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
  • $50,000 to evaluate the feasibility of a wind turbine at Fort Richardson. Funding provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
  • $50,000 to evaluate the feasibility of a wind turbine in Sitka. Funding provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
