A Statement from Congressman Young on the President’s Budget
Washington, D.C. - Alaskan Congressman Don Young issued the following statement this afternoon regarding the release of President Obama’s budget for Fiscal Year 2011:
"Today President Obama made history," said Rep. Young, "but not the type of history that Americans want. At a time when Alaskans are cutting coupons and tightening their budgets, the President’s new $3.8 trillion budget imposes the largest tax increases, creates the largest deficits and spends more than ANY other budget in U.S. history.
"As legislators, it is Congress' responsibility to evaluate and implement the country’s budget, not the President's. While I am hopeful that President Obama wants to practice the fiscal responsibility he preaches, a token 3% spending freeze is like buying $200 in groceries at the supermarket and then making the fiscal decision to not buy gum in the check-out line."
