The Anchorage Fire department will be hosting a cardiac arrest survivor recognition ceremony.
On Monday, November 11th at approximately 2:49 p.m. an emergency 9-1-1 call was received for a report of a sudden cardiac arrest. The caller, a friend of the patient, reported he had witnessed his friend suddenly collapse and stop breathing. The caller was immediately given specific CPR instructions by the Anchorage Fire Department Emergency Medical Dispatcher. CPR was aggressively performed by the caller until the arrival of the Anchorage Fire Department responders at which time they took over resuscitation efforts.
Due to early CPR and timely life saving interventions performed by the bystander, dispatchers and emergency responders, the patient was resuscitated and transported to a local hospital where he was treated and later released.
The Anchorage Fire Department will be recognizing the bystander that performed CPR, the patient, both the Anchorage Police Department and Anchorage Fire Department Dispatchers, and the emergency responders.
