The Alaska GOP Endorses Governor Sean Parnell for re-election in 2014
In historic first, State Central Committee proudly endorses run for second term
ANCHORAGE - The Alaska Republican Party has proudly endorsed Gov. Sean Parnell's campaign for a second term, marking the first time in state history the party has endorsed a governors' re-election bid.
The unanimous vote of the ARP State Central Committee was recognition of the governor's proven leadership and long record of accomplishments since he took office in 2009.
"From the fight to protect Alaska from federal overreach, to energy issues, to the “Choose Respect” Domestic Violence initiative, Gov. Parnell has been a strong and selfless leader for Alaskans," ARP Chairman Peter Goldberg said. "We are proud to support the Governors’ second term candidacy."
Gov. Parnell's achievements include the Alaska Performance Scholarship Program, which has awarded over $8 million in scholarships to Alaska high school graduates attending Alaskan post-secondary education institutions since 2011. Parnell has also worked with the Legislature to create reasonable taxation and permitting structures to increase oil production, and is pursuing efforts to reduce energy costs throughout Alaska.
