State Closes Winter Moose hunt in 22D Southwest and Kuzitrin

(Nome) – The Alaska Department of Fish and game announces an emergency order to close the moose season in the Unit 22(D) Southwest and Unit 22(D) within the Kuzitrin River hunt area under registration permit hunt RM849

The State resident winter season for antlered bull moose by registration permit hunt RM849 closes at 11:59 p.m. on January 3, 2014. The winter harvest quota of 8 antlered bull moose is expected to be reached by the season closing date announced in the emergency order and no further harvest is warranted

The fall combined harvest quota of 54 bulls in these portions of Unit 22(D) was not filled during the fall RY2013-14 season leaving a surplus of 8 antlered bulls available for harvest in the winter hunt.
