Pawlowski Named Deputy Commissioner
Leary to Lead Treasury Division
Juneau, Alaska – Department of Revenue Commissioner Angela Rodell today named Michael Pawlowski deputy commissioner for strategic finance. Pawlowski currently serves as petroleum fiscal systems advisor to the commissioner. A lifelong Alaskan, Pawlowski graduated from Alaska Pacific University. He previously worked for Alaska Permanent Capital Management Company, the Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority, and as an aide specializing in oil and gas, energy, and finance issues for the Alaska Legislature. Pawlowski will lead special projects and teams within the department.
Pamela Leary has been chosen to lead the Treasury Division as the state treasurer. She had served as state comptroller since 2007. Leary began her career as an auditor with Price Waterhouse and became a partner in the firm PricewaterhouseCoopers. After moving to Alaska, Leary owned and operated a business before reentering the accounting profession with the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation. She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and is a certified public accountant in the State of Alaska. Leary was recognized by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants in 2013 for her work in creating a transparent accounting system of the state’s $49 billion portfolio comprised of general funds, budget reserves and retirement trust accounts.
Taking the position as state comptroller will be Scott Jones, who has held the position of assistant comptroller since 2007. Jones has also served as an auditor. Jones holds a degree in business with an emphasis on accounting from the University of Alaska Southeast.
