MWH Global Past and Present CEOs Honored by the Pan American Academy of Engineering
Alan Krause inducted as new member, distinguished engineer and William Carroll recognized as honorary member
Broomfield, Colo., December 3, 2012 – MWH Global today announced that Alan Krause, president and chief executive officer of the global engineering firm and a native Alaskans from Mount McKinley National Park, was recently inducted into the Pan American Academy of Engineering as a new academy member and distinguished engineer. Former CEO and chairman emeritus William Carroll was also recognized as an honorary member.
Academy members are selected based on ethical, academic and professional merits and for contributions to the progress of engineering in Pan American markets. Honorary members are distinguished members with five years or more rendering outstanding services to the academy. Krause and Carroll were recognized during the Academy’s biennial meeting in October and a celebration event was held at the Academy’s new headquarters at the Palacio de Mineria in Mexico City.
“I’m extremely honored to join the distinguished engineers and industry leaders that make up the Pan American Academy of Engineering and I’m pleased to see an extraordinary professional like William Carroll recognized for his years of industry service,” said Krause. “Much like the Academy, MWH is focused on growing the engineering profession and creating engineering solutions for communities in North and South America and around the world.”
With more than 35 years of industry experience, Krause provides leadership to the worldwide operating companies of MWH. Krause is a geotechnical engineer with a master’s degree in geological engineering from the University of Nevada Mackay School of Mines and has completed the Harvard Business School Owner/President Management Program.
Carroll joined James M. Montgomery Consulting Engineers, one of three companies later merged to form MWH, in 1951 and served as president and CEO from 1969 to 1985. He retired in 1986 and lives in Carlsbad, Calif. Carroll was recognized as one of the founding representatives of the Academy at the Solemn Ceremony of the Pan American Academy of Engineering.
The Pan American Academy of Engineering aids the development of countries in North and South America through contributions of distinguished engineers' intelligence, experience and time. Inductees are voted in by each member of the academy representing multiple countries. This year’s new academy inductees represented multiple countries, including Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Panama, Peru and the U.S.
