Emergency Unemployment Compensation Ends Dec. 29: 5,600 Alaskans to lose benefits

JUNEAU, Alaska—In accordance with current federal law, the Emergency Unemployment Compensation program is ending. The last payable week of EUC is Dec. 29, regardless of any remaining balances.

The four-tier EUC program extended unemployment benefits an additional 53 weeks for qualifying workers. Regular unemployment benefits are up to 26 weeks.
About 5,600 unemployed workers in Alaska will be affected. These individuals have been notified about the EUC expiration and advised about other resources available through their transition to employment.

They are also being directed to Alaska’s Department of Health and Social Services and United Way of Anchorage’s 211 hotline.
Individuals affected by the loss of EUC benefits should contact their nearest Alaska Job Center to receive guidance on job search assistance and other employment services – online at Jobs.Alaska.Gov or by calling (877) 724-2539.
