North Slope oil and gas lease sale nets significant number of bids
(Anchorage, AK) – The Division of Oil and Gas has received a substantial number of bids for its annual oil and gas lease offering for the Beaufort Sea, the North Slope and the North Slope Foothills.
The bids will be opened at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, in Kahtnu Room 1 of the Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center, at 600 West 7th Avenue in downtown Anchorage. The bid opening is open to the public.
Details about the bids, such as the identity of the bidders, the dollar amounts offered for specific tracts and the location of the tracts, will be revealed during the bid opening. Natural Resources Commissioner Dan Sullivan and Oil and Gas Division Director Bill Barron plan to convene a press availability after the bid opening, tentatively at noon, to discuss the preliminary results of the lease sale. To avoid congestion in the hallway, the press availability will be on the convention center’s second floor landing near the escalators.
Later this week, the preliminary results of the lease sale will be published on the division’s web site, http://www.dog.dnr.alaska.gov. The results will remain preliminary until title and survey work is completed.
