GCI Celebrates Mountain View Store Opening
GCI is hosting a grand opening celebration at its newest Anchorage location in Park Place Village at 4211 Mountain View Drive today from 3 – 5 p.m. The opening is part of a community revitalization effort established by the Cook Inlet Housing Authority and Anchorage Community Land Trust.
GCI will be serving free Pizza Hut pizza and refreshments and is inviting the community to visit itsnewest location. All wireless phones will be free with a new or renewed contract.
“We have free food and free phones, so we hope to meet a lot of our neighbors,” said Paul Landes, GCI senior vice president. “We’ve been working on this store since June and it’s exciting to see it all come together. The community has embraced us since we first announced the move and we’re pleased to play a larger role now in providing service in the community.”
The new store is a little more than 1,000 square feet and within walking distance of about 7,000 households. The Mountain View location is GCI’s 13th store in Anchorage and 35th store statewide.
GCI plans to open two additional stores in Anchorage by the end of January.
Park Place Village, created by Cook Inlet Housing Authority, is a distinct design for Anchorage with retail space on the first floor and residential housing on the second and third floors. CIHA believes placing businesses and services within a neighborhood is a great way to recapture the spirit of Mountain View, an area where many ofAnchorage’s homesteaders first lived.
