Book signing Saturday, Dec. 17 at Jojo de-Go-go
“White House of the North: Stories from the Alaska Governor's Mansion” debuted in Juneau last weekend, and was a huge success.
Because of the holiday crush, we chose to wait until January to hold signings in Anchorage, but many people have asked if the book will be available locally before Christmas. And now it is!
Carol Sturgulewski will be selling and signing the book from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17 at Jojo de-Go-go coffee shop at 302 G St., right across from the Snow Goose. Street parking is free, the coffee is great, and the book makes a perfect Christmas gift for anyone who appreciates Alaska, history, or entertaining stories. Please stop by and say a quick holiday hello!
A little recap: “White House of the North: Stories from the Alaska Governor's Mansion” is a 112-page softcover book stuffed with more than 75 historic photos. The Governor's House celebrates its centennial in 2012, and the book takes you through a century of glamorous balls, wartime austerity, backyard baseball, delicate antiques, leaky pipes, boisterous children, visiting dignitaries and even a bigamist governor. You'll also go beyond the public rooms to glimpse the rarely-seen private quarters of the Governor's House.
“White House of the North,” published by Plaid Cabin Publishers of Anchorage, sells for $24.95. All profits go to the non-profit Friends of the Alaska Governor's Mansion Foundation. Hope to see you Saturday at Jojo de-Go-go, and if not, look for us at local bookstores in January!
