Anch Chamber Promotes J.J. Harrier to Vice President Position
ANCHORAGE - The Anchorage Chamber of Commerce recently named J.J. Harrier as vice president of the organization. J.J. will oversee staff development, strategic planning, and other leadership roles while maintaining his position as communications director for Alaska's largest business organization.
"We are thrilled to have J.J. rise within our organization, especially with his experience in communications and team program development over the past several years," said Sami Glascott, president of the Anchorage Chamber.
J.J. joined the Anchorage Chamber in 2008 as communications coordinator, responsible for the organization's events and program branding, media communications, publications editor, committee liaison and organizing the weekly "Make it Monday" forums. He was promoted to communications director three years later.
Prior to joining the Anchorage Chamber, J.J. was features editor for the Frontiersman, the Mat-Su Valley's thrice-weekly newspaper. He has a background in print journalism, writing numerous features articles for the Anchorage Press and outside freelance projects.
J.J. studied journalism and public communications at the University of Alaska Anchorage, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2001. J.J. currently serves as Anchorage Chamber liaison on the board of directors for the School Business Partnership and the Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau's Big Wild Life Committee.
